Personal Statement:

FJ052810My father, now a retired Commander, was an officer in the United States Navy. While he was stationed in Malta, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, I took my first breath of European air and started my life with a full head of dark brown hair. Typical of an Officer’s family, we relocated every one to three years. As a kindergartener, I attended a private school in Japan. I remember wearing a cute little uniform of dark blue bottoms and a button down white top. With my lunch box strapped across my chest, I would bow to the bus driver as he stood to help us onto the bus. My fondest childhood memories come from Annapolis, Maryland, where my father taught at the Naval Academy. There, I used to love going down to the “dock” to catch crabs that were nibbling on the chicken I had carefully tied to the end of a string. It was exhilarating to gently scoop one into my net, and doubly so if I caught two that were mating. These young childhood experiences taught me a sense of respect, adventure, and determination at a very young age.

We moved to Colorado my senior year of high school. I took some time off before starting college, but while on an extended stay in Santa Barbara, decided to register for a few classes at the beautiful community college that sat on a cliff, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was there that I took my first Art History course and right away knew that I had found my path and was ready to get serious about University. I came back home to finish school and receive my degree, from CU Boulder. During my summers I planned trips to Europe to see the masterpieces and architectural feats I had studied at school. In Italy, I participated in two archaeological digs and it was there that I first learned about Nutella-- how to spoon that hazelnut wonder right out of the jar. My traveling experiences taught me how to appreciate other cultures, become internationally savvy, set itineraries, understand the significance of flexibility, be creative, become independent, follow my dreams, and become passionate about what I love.

For the past twenty years I have owned my own art consulting business and although I have enjoyed serving my clients and running my own business, it is time to transfer my skills to a new career in the Private Service industry as a Certified Household Manager and or Personal Executive Assistant. My top four standards are Administrative, Entertainment, Culinary and Housekeeping. I chose these four because of my past experience and strong expertise in each area.

Administratively, I am proficient int Microsoft Office 2007; Word, Outlook and Excel and have the ability to hire and manage vendors for projects, and experience in scheduling complex meetings, events, and travel. I have assisted CEOs, high-level Executives, Facility Managers, and private parties procure, document, and maintain art their collections. I recognize fine collectibles, I am resourceful, efficient, polished and professional.

My experience in Entertainment has included curating art auctions, securing venues for events, hiring caterers and musicians, sitting on committees for non-profits events, planning art exhibitions and workshops, and overseeing and running events. Because of my organizational skills, I am able to make things happen. I have a discerning eye for detail, am creative, and can “Master the Moment”.

My Culinary experience is strong as I have been cooking creatively for over twenty years. I enjoy putting together recipes and meals either straight from mmemory, family recipes, or with the help of gourmet cookbooks. I enjoy trying new foods and include new flavors when cooking. If a recipe calls for a high fat content, generally I cut that back by using other ingredients. I have prepared menus for various art receptions and have chosen menus for large charity events.

In Housekeeping, my abilities include preparing and implementing a Service Management System which provides a comprehensive plan for cleaning a home. It is based on high organization by implementing cleaning techniques and utilizing forms, i.e., “Zoning”, “Task Sheets”, “Day in the Life” forms, and “Daily Graces”. This management system is thorough and very detailed.
