Profile Mr.
I was born in Flint Michigan and raised in the nearby small town of Montrose (Pop. 3000). My brother, two sisters and I attended local public schools and all graduated from colleges and universities in Michigan. We were the first generation of our English- German family to graduate with college degrees. We grew up in a very loving family and had parents and grandparents on both sides residing in our town. All were active in serving the community, their church and in service organizations.
Top 4 Service Standards of Maintenance, Transportation, Property and Grounds and Personal Care. My grandfather’s and father’s hardware and appliance business always was part of my life and I began to work at their store in my early teens. Although I received my B.S. in Secondary Education from Central Michigan University, I chose to join the family business. Through this work experience I became proficient in management, bookkeeping, vendor relationships, marketing, inventory control, sales and general knowledge of electrical, plumbing and construction tools and techniques. We prided ourselves on our customer service orientation through the years. After we sold our business in the late 90’s, I worked for a construction and development company that required me to have a CDL (Chauffeurs License) which I still maintain. I also worked as property manager for many years managing rentals and commercial properties that our family owned. Through my business I also became involved in buying, selling and restoring vintage automobiles and pleasure boats manufactured in Michigan.
My service heart comes from my father. My father greeted every person who came into his store by name and “How can I help and assist you today?” He was an honest, loved and trusted business man who served his community through being president of the school board, to volunteer firefighter, to the Shriner who was “Fuzzy the Clown.” He was my inspiration, my mentor and my best friend. I pattern my service style and my communication style on his. He also taught me how to care for the elderly as the last 10 years of his life he struggled with Alzheimer’s in which I had years of experience in caring for him.
I communicate honestly and always try to get to know at least something about everyone I meet. I am genuinely interested in most everyone. I try to keep an open mind and open heart with people that have different personalities and lifestyles. I have solid mid-western work ethics and always try to work hard to find a solution to all problems. My ideal job as a Household Manager would be in an active family. I am an avid fisherman-/hunter and love to travel and be outdoors. I am a nature lover and love rural areas.
Profile Mrs.
I was born and grew up in and around Wheaton, Illinois – a suburb 30 miles west of Chicago, where my parents and grandparents resided. My English/German parents were a traditional couple married in 1937. Both being college educated, my parents were community leaders, church leaders and active in many civic and social organizations. My grandparents were also heavily involved in many community, church and political groups. My father, a banker and comptroller died very suddenly at the age of 47 and, my mother became a working “single mom” with three children to support in 1960. I am the middle child and have an older and a younger brother. My mother relocated to Tucson Az. to attend the University of Arizona for a Masters Degree in History in order to return to teaching to support her family. My mother’s self-determination and insistence for her children to develop a “social conscience” is my inspiration for my life. We always tagged along with her from soup kitchens in the projects of Southside Chicago to delivering mobile meals in the Barrio of south Tucson. She is the source of my service heart.
My top three standards are Housekeeping, Administration and Personal Care. Because of my degree in Home Economics/Interior design, I have a history of knowledge in furniture and textiles and know how to care for the finest accessories, antiques and art. I have an eye for detail and recognize and understand quality products in the home. I have worked for large furniture companies and have owned my own businesses for many years. As a retailer of 3 fine linen, bedding and furniture stores in Arizona, I acquired great skills in budgeting, hiring and training employees, scheduling, and working with many vendors. As an Interior designer I worked on a number of very large” start to finish” jobs with clients of high net worth and demand for the finest products and services.
I found that being (prior to my marriage to Del) a “single Mom” was the most challenging and rewarding job that I have held. No formal education prepared me for that challenge. Again, my mother’s self-determination, strength, and courage in face of adversity influenced me and also my son to become all that we were meant to be. It also helped me in 1994 when I married Del and we became a blended family with three teenagers. I am familiar with the caring for the elderly as I assist in taking care of my father- n- law who had Alzheimer’s for 10 years.
I would describe my service style as Midwestern-hardworking. I am organized, can adapt well and am a problem solver. I work hard at finding creative solutions, finding a compromise and having a positive attitude. I would enjoy a working environment that is family oriented – even cross generational. I love to entertain and plan parties and I am an avid student of current interior design trends. When there is time, I also love to travel to new and exciting places.
