PL0110

Personal Statement:

I was born and raised in the Philippines, the 6th child of 12 children to a WW11 USAF Vet, and a stay at home mother.  My parents were early settlers of a small town down far northeastern side of the P.I.  Father was one of the shapers of this undeveloped site after the war.  Out of the land dwellers’ demand for staples, father operated the first rice mill while he built the family home.   People's main source of livelihood was agriculture which also led father to also put up a blacksmith shop to supply farming tools.  As the migrants' need for built homes arose, my father and my older (graduated from college) brothers operated the first lumber yard and construction supply enterprise.

I was born very observant and keen child. I was about 9 years old when I appointed myself and assumed the Mother's Helper position. It was just hard for me to see my mother exhausted each day from running the home (even with a housemaid and a nanny).  Spinster aunt took notice of my initiative and zest to keep the house neat and “clean” one summer.  Aunt's fist cleaning instruction was to not swing the broom when sweeping the floor as dust must be contained or isolated and should not be allowed to fly all over the place because then there will be more work to do!  Another logical lesson from dad was to always catch crumbs when wiping a surface. Never wipe the table and let the crumbs/dirt jump off to the floor. Organization was a must. Children’s armoires were shared. It was a must that clothes were folded in same way to neatly.  These tiny basic things and the House Motto, “A job badly done is worse than a job undone.”   It was indelibly engrained in me and became the corner stone in the way I live life.

I attended a Jesuit School in the city where my other older brother was on the faculty in Theology and Philosophy. It was my responsibility to make sure we children had 3 healthy meals each day on a given budget.  I also had to make sure that all the clothes I sent out to the laundress came back and properly done. I had to make sure that my little sister does not miss her school bus. Everything went well.  We all finished college without major disasters. I was a Nursing Student till my sophomore year but graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Major in Banking and Finance in year 1976.

I met my husband in my senior year and we were married as I landed my first position with the number one bank in the Philippines – Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company. I was very well versed in each and every department over 4 years.

I left the Philippines in 1987 with husband to join his family in Long Island, New York.  We found work in homes and quickly learned American ways, their lifestyles, customs, and traditions; and put my English into practice.  Little did I know that household service would become my lifelong career!

Due to my background and upbringing I have established my Top 3 Service Standards to be Housekeeping, Culinary and Personal Care.   I pride myself in imposing a high level of sanitation with highly organized and meticulous cleaning standards.  I am a talented and creative cook specializing in healthy gourmet, home and fusion cooking.  Personal care for my principal, children and pets are of utmost importance to me in all areas including personal flavors in the kitchen to meeting their expectations without having to ask.  I have chosen household management to be a lifelong career.  I am very savvy in the New York lifestyle and very knowledgeable of the resources available in the area as well.

My husband died of Cancer in 1996.  I mourned his loss through Dance.  I took up dance and learned that my ballet classes would feed my soul and became my religion! The discipline of ballet teaches the simple principles of centeredness and awareness.  It has become the core of my way of living. It has become my personal tool in achieving what seem to be impossible and in keeping the balance in this fast evolving times. In using this discipline, I'm no longer just a dancer, I become the dance. In household management as I implement The System (the service plan), I soon become the system!

I have given my life to the career of Private Service.  I am most comfortable in homes with very high standards of service where my service delivery can become my art form.  I am kind and forgiving around children and pets, and would appreciate a position on the east coast.
