A Private Service Training Institute that offers sophisticated and advanced training in Household, Estate, and Personal Assistant Management that educates both employers and students about “Service as an Expertise.” Our curriculum teaches Starkey’s Patented Service Management System & Software; Service Technology; Private Service Entertaining and Wine Cellar Management; Culinary Skills that customize Flavor Profiles; Technical Skills; Human Resources; People Management Tools; and Service Etiquette and Protocol.

 

Starkey Staff 08Recruitment and Placement for the luxury market, assisting our Certified Graduates to succeed by specifically matching Certified Household and Estate Managers, Butlers, Personal Assistants and other “veteran industry professionals,” with potential employers in private homes, boutique luxury hotels and residential communities.

 

On-site Consultations & Training for Principals and their household staff to develop and customize a service management plan, and to provide technical skills training as requested in housekeeping, formal entertaining and table service, culinary skills in the marriage of food and wine, and wine cellars management.

 

Continuing Education opportunities including our annual international “Restoring the Art” Conference — held in selected luxury communities around the country — for Household and Estate Management professionals, Butlers, Personal Assistants, Enlisted Aides, Private Chefs, Placement Agencies, Luxury Hotels, Service Schools and Experts, and Vendors. Starkey also offers seminars in Starkey Service Management Model and Software for employed professionals.

 

Educational Publications & Products. Starkey has published several household management books that support the Private Service Industry. Mrs. Starkey’s Setting Household Standards (for the Employer), Mrs.Starkey’s Original Guide to Private Service Management, Mrs. Starkey’s Nanny Manager, and the Starkey Service Management Software.

Starkey curricula classes are provided throughout the United States. Our administrative headquarters and central Institute is located in downtown Denver, Colorado. President and Founder of Starkey International
First Lady of Service, Starkey International’s founder and visionary, Mary Louise Starkey, coined the term “Household Manager” and began placing household veterans in 1981. Her clientele includes Old Guard Families, Legacy Families, CEOs, Dot- Comers, Entrepreneurs, Entertainment Personalities and Diplomatic Leaders across the country. She has continued to “Set the Standard” for Private Service in Education and in Private Service Placement for over twenty-five years. In 1997, she began writing for the profession, eventually developing Starkey’s patented Starkey Service Management System and software, the world’s first advanced service management tool for Private Service. Mrs. Starkey is passionately devoted to changing the outmoded paradigm of “servitude” into “Service as an Expertise,” as well as building a profession that is world-recognized. In March 2000, Mrs. Starkey hosted the world’s first Household Management conference, “Restoring the Art.” Household and Service Management Schools, Enlisted Aides, Personal Assistants, Family Offices, Household Staffing Agents, and Household and Estate Managers from around the world attend this conference yearly. She is also one of the founding members of the International Nanny Association, and the International Association for Private Service Management. She also serves as a consultant for numerous Placement Firms, Training Schools, Family Offices and Luxury Market Employers throughout the world. In 2001, the Starkey Household Management curriculum became an approved Military Enlisted Aide educational program. A dynamic and passionate public speaker and natural storyteller, Mrs. Starkey continues her vision for the art form of service by appearing at international conventions, seminars, corporate events and hospitality forums around the globe. Mrs. Starkey continues to develop new courses for the Private Service Management Profession.

 

Ms. Paula FaulknerMiss Paula Faulkner
Chief Financial Officer
HR Director

Miss Faulkner is Starkey Internationals’ Comptroller and Human Resources Manager. An integral part of Starkey’s team, she brings 30+ years of expertise serving high-end CPA offices including MPI, Venturi Technologies, Integrity Solutions, and several other organizations. Miss Faulkner is also on the Board of the Denver Broncos Quarterback Club (and naturally is an avid Denver Broncos fan), as well as the Colorado Prevention Center Foundation. Aside from her accounting and Human Resources background, Miss Faulkner is the notary for Starkey International.

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Debra BullockMs. Debra Bullock
CHHE, Certified Household Manager
Ms. Bullock has 33 years experience in the Service Industry. Most recently Ms. Bullock served as the Director of Housekeeping at the historic Brown Palace Hotel and Spa in Denver, Colorado, hailing 20 years of exemplary quality, customer service and leadership. Ms. Bullock’s philosophy about quality is second to none. Her customer service philosophy is driven by passion and the ability to create a luxurious experience. Ms. Bullock’s leadership within the service industry is an extension of her personal values, which are honesty, integrity, quality and excellence. Ms. Bullock is excited about the opportunity to leverage her experience to bring a “best in Class” household management experience to private homes. Ms. Bullock’s experience and knowledge will contribute to the success of Starkey students as they evolve and turn service into a profession.

 

Ms. Jessica StimsonMr. Donald Jardine
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Jardine is a 20 year veteran and 3rd generation Estate Manager who brings to Starkey a wealth of experience managing some of the finest estates in the country, serving a select few of America’s wealthiest families. Originally from Boston, Mr. Jardine has a degree in Business Administration from Bryant University and, prior to being an Estate Manager, built a successful chain of resort stores catering to tourists in the Cape Cod area. After selling his business, Mr. Jardine followed his Father and Grandfather into the field of Estate Management. 20 years later he is now considered an expert in the field of private service, often being brought in to set up new estates, oversee renovations, or to lend his expertise to bring up the level of personal service in the homes of America’s elite. Mr. Jardine is excited about being at Starkey where his experience and expertise in the Private Service Industry is not only a tremendous asset to our valued clients, but also to students who are just entering

the Private Service Profession.

 

Mr. William AlthoffMr. William Althoff, CHM, CEC
Private Service Training Instructor
Born in New Jersey and raised by a traditional German family of Chefs, Mr. Althoff earned a degree as a Certified Executive Chef. Mr. Althoff then distinguished himself during a 20 year career in the Navy where his service included positions with the White House Culinary Staff, and as a Senior Enlisted Aide to the Vice President. Upon his retirement, Mr. Althoff returned to Colorado where he spent 5 years as a Family and Youth Minister before becoming a Starkey Certified Household Manager. Mr. Althoff’s experience serving Presidents and world leaders in locations all over the world have afforded him valuable skills in both personal service and culinary arts. An educator and a mentor, it is Mr. Althoff’s mission to pass his knowledge and the Starkey vision to the next generation of service professionals and empower them to find their own bliss.

 

 

Mr. Matthew HendersonMr. Matthew Henderson
Director of Information Technologies

Matthew Henderson grew up in a home of service minded professional; his father was a Naval Officer and Chaplin.  His upbringing in a military home grounded him in the rules of structure and organization.  At the same time his parent’s example of service to their country and personal generosity gave him the foundation to understand the hearts and needs of others.  As the I.T. Director at Starkey International, Matt brings the experience of running his own small business; and of serving in the computer and technical fields for corporations in Southern California. In addition he has a strong and highly creative background in photography, graphic design and web development.   Matthew is new to Denver and is excited to support the educational excellence of Starkey International, staff and students.

 

 

Ms. Aimee Willox
Placement Specialist

Ms Willox compliments the Starkey team with an AA Degree from Cypress College in California, and with over 8 years of hospitality expertise with a total of 23 years of client service. She established her service heart early in life in retail which later lead her into hospitality and resorts as Director of Human Resources. Her positions always included recruiting, employee relations, and knowledge of labor laws. She has a natural aptitude and a well seasoned ability for intricately matching just the right Starkey Graduate with our Employers specific needs.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Gary SmithMr. Gary Smith
B.A., M.S.
Director of Placement

Gary Smith comes to Starkey & Associates with 29 years experience in the United States Air Force. He spent two years enlisted, attained the rank of Colonel, before retiring last year as the Director of Personnel for the USAF Academy. Mr Smith’s time as an Air Traffic Controller, years in recruiting and human resource, make him a valuable asset to this profession. Mr. Smith’s education runs the gamut with a B.A. in percussion performance from The University of Missouri Conservatory of Music to a M.S. in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle University. His experience, knowledge, and passion for mentoring others is an outstanding combination contributing to the future success of Starkey Graduates.

 

 

Ms. Kristin ParksMs. Kristin Parks
B.A. in History, Minor Event Management

Private Service Event Manager

A recent graduate of Metropolitan State College of Denver, Ms. Parks is a Colorado native. She believes in honesty and integrity as her core values. Pride and professionalism are essential tools she utilizes within the event planning profession. Her specialties include strong client service skills, with a keen attention to detail. Ms. Park’s vision is to ‘serve’ Starkey clientele as they experience the historical Cutherbert/Starkey Mansion as though they were members of Denver’s original society, with grace and elegance. The Mansion for the first time will be made available for small, private and intimate events. Prior to Starkey, Ms. Parks served as the Adoptions Coordinator for the Aurora Animal Shelter and had also worked at RE/MAX International Headquarters in Denver. She enjoys traveling, her animals, and precious time spent with her family.

 

 

Ms. Lucia MiltenbergerMs. Lucia Miltenberger

Private Service Training Instructor
Lucia Miltenberger has a passion and a gift for sharing her knowledge of wine, spirits and service. A long time favorite instructor at Starkey, she holds “the unity of professionalism and savoir-faire as an asset in the world of competent service.” Her background in formal dining, wine service, management, personal catering and serving Denver Country club clientele has uniquely prepared her to teach those in personal service. Her students are in awe of her vast experience and her ability to clearly and easily share her knowledge. Ms. Miltenberger has dedicated her life to sharing her love of wines.

 

 

Mr. Barry WilsonMr. Barry Wilson
Private Service Security Instructor
Barry Wilson graduated from Executive Security International in 1991, and founded Anlance Protection Ltd., an Executive Protection and Security Company located in Fort Collins, Colorado. He and his company have provided Executive Protection for high-net-worth clients, both corporate governmental and celebrity personalities. Mr. Wilson and Starkey International have worked together, for over 10 years, to develop and provide specialized training and services for estates, principals and their staff.
